The main activities of the flying competition
18 Weifang International Kite Festival has arranged 5 main flying activities ,namely: 
1) International Kites competition  2)Invited Competition of Kites with Characteristics  3)Weifang Kites Competition  4)10,000 people's kite-flying  5)General public's free kite-flying:

1. Coming from different countries and regions all over the world,and from different cities of China, about 110 teams,together about 900 people will participate in the International Kites Competition. This competition is to be held April 20 and 21st at Weifang Municipal Government Square and Fuyan Mountain Field separately.
"New Century's Invited Competition of Kites with Characteristics "inviting 18 teams ,180 characterized kites from China will be held. It will be held from 19th to 21st of April.

2. Weifang Kites Competition will have the participating teams from the 12 counties of Weiafng and 60 units attached . Each county will have one team ,with 20 people in each team,including one guide,one coach, 18 members, and 30 kites as well.For the units attached to Weifang City,each team will have 10 people,including one guide,one coach, 8 members, and 15 kites as well.Weifang Kites competition is to be held from April 15 to 21st at Weifang Municipal Government Square and Fuyan Mountain Field . The preliminary will be from 15th to 17th,and the final will be on 21st. This will be organized by the Competition Devision of Weifang International Kite Festival.

3. Organized by Weicheng Disstict and Kuiwen District Governments and some other related Departments,the 10,000 people's kite-flying will have participating Primary and Middle school 
students ,college students and the people from all circles of the society.

4. General public's free kite-flying will be at Bailang River Park, Weiafang City's Stadium Park, Juli Park, the squares of Governments buildings, the playground of colleges and universities and anywhere that kites can be flown up. Organized by the Party and Trade Union, some leaders will have a flying competition.

5. From April 1st to June 5th, the tourism spots all over Weifang will organize general public's kite-flying demonstration.

Competiton Rules and Awards:
1)  The International Kite Festival will adopt international common practice. Weifang Kite Competiton will adopt the rule made by Weifang common practice. Each team will be added up a mark to decide its numbers. All participants/units will have to register to corresponding devision before April 1st. To judge the 10,000 people's flying and general public's flying ,their whole results will be considered.

2)  Weifang Kites Competition will have two parts, the preliminary and the final. The counties prelimirary will be on 15th,April; and the attached units' preliminary will be on 16th and 17th. Through the preliminaries, 2/3 kites will be chosen to take part in the final. The qualified flyers will get a certificate from the Competition Devision. With the certificate,they can go to Fuyan Mountain to participate the flying. Those whose kites can stay up in the sky for one hour will be successful. Those who do not participate the 21st,April competition or those who are not successful in the flying will not have a mark. In the competition,coach sent by the Competition Devision will comment on the flyings. If the coaches do not have the time to comment, the flyers or units can offer their photos and videos for their reference to see whether successful or not.

3)  According to the principles of" Simple Procedures,Easy to judge, Fair play, Encouragement",the International Kite Competition, Invited Kite Competition and Weifang Kite Competition will comment at the flying field and will release their numbers. The judges will be sent by the Competition Devision. The judges will choose their orders to judge fairly.

4)  The International Kite Competition will give out No.1, No.2 and No.3 awards,which will be decided according to the kites levels. All participating countries and regions will have a chance to get an award. In addition, there will be "The largest kite prize" , "The longest kite prize" and "The best flying kite prize" . The three "most" will be given a "cup" . The No.1, No.2 and No.3 awards will be given a medal. All International Kite Competition participants will get a gift as a souvenior.

5)  The National Invited Kite Competition will be held according to " Rules for kites competition" issued by National P.E. Bureau.

6)  Participating Weifang Kite Competition's teams from the counties,City-attached units will be given a number as a team. Each group will have No.1 ,No.2 and No.3 Prize and will be given a cup. The first six single kites will be given a madal. 

7)  Weifang Kite Competition will judge the "The Invention Prize". There will be six No.1 Class,each kite given RMB 3,000 . There will be 10 No.2 Class, each kite given RMB 1,000. There will be 20 No.3 Class,each kite given RMB500.

8)  Through the Weifang Kite Competition there will occur 10 "New Century's Kite Star" . At the end of this year, the Government and the City Committee will award them certificates.

9)  During the 10,000 people's flying and the free flying, there will occur" Advanced Unit" and "Excellent Organizer". The City Government and Committee will give them certain awards. The International Kite Competition, the National Invited Kite Competition and Weifang Kite Competition will issue the prizes on 21st,April,5:00 pm at International Club of Weifang Fuwah Hotel.
